Glendale Oakmont Country Club Jazz Wedding Reception Details | Pasadena & Burbank Day After/Newlywed Session Photographer

We were delighted to attend Allison and Jim’s gorgeous Oakmont Country Club jazz wedding reception in Glendale.  If you recall their Griffith Park engagement session, you’ll remember the fun we had with Jim’s saxophone.  The saxophone was back in full form at their wedding reception.  But let me start first with the seriously delectable displays of food.  You know how much I love blogging about food.

I went back for thirds and fourths with these yummy desserts.

The super-talented jazz combo provided the perfect accompaniment to the delicious food.  If you couldn’t tell, I’m a huge fan of jazz.

After a little while, the groom himself came on stage to perform, which was awesome and so unique!  Among the songs Jim played, my favorite was “All the Things You Are.”

And the beautiful newlyweds at the end of the evening.  Allison and Jim, you look absolutely radiant.  Congratulations again to you both!

Long Beach & Pasadena Wedding Reception Details | Pomona & Torrance Day After/Newlywed Session Photographer

We were honored to attend Kendall and Graham’s wedding as guests.  If you missed their Lake Tahoe day after / newlywed portrait session, check it out now!  Their wedding reception was full of the most amazing details.

For dessert, Kendall and her mom baked pies.  Lots and lots of pies.  And they were the best pies we’ve ever had!  From the left, they were: mixed berry, cherry, apple, bride and groom pie, blueberry, and peach.  Between the wedding reception and the brunch the next morning, I’m a little embarrassed to admit I had, um, three helpings altogether.  Really.  They were that incredible.

As if that weren’t enough, Kendall also made homemade toffee and salsa as wedding favors!  And they were just as scrumptious as the pies!

A few handsome men who were also college suite-mates.

The mother-son dance.

The father-daughter dance, and some of the super lively and fun line-dancing that went on for hours into the evening.  Kendall and Graham are superb dancers, and the guests had a fabulous time joining in on the fun.

And that’s it for the wedding reception!  By the way, you may have noticed some changes on the blog.  I’ve been working towards making it a blog-site so that things are more integrated and so that there’s less navigation.  Hope you like the changes!

Chi - Contradiction: They do not look cool. They look like old-timers. However, the wedding looks absolutely amazing. There’s so much love in all of their pies and wedding favors. And I can attest to the fact that the salsa/toffee was delicious!September 29, 2010 – 1:00 am

Evan - Very nice! Where did you find those four guys? They look cool.September 16, 2010 – 7:43 pm

May - What a wedding!

Pasadena & Los Angeles Day After/Newlywed Session | Wedding Portrait Photography with Kendall & Graham

Kendall and Graham are one of the cutest couples we’ve ever known.  Graham and Evan have been friends since freshman year and lived in the same suite senior year, and Kendall also is a Stanford alum.  You can’t be around Kendall and Graham and not end up laughing.  They’re just so full of fun and humor.  They’re also outdoorsy and adventurous, so their amazing Lake Tahoe wedding and their honeymoon in Alaska came as no surprise to anyone.  We attended their wedding as guests, and we were so excited to have a small amount of time with them for a wedding portrait session (categorized as a day after/newlywed session for simplicity).  If you missed the sneak peek, check it out here!

In keeping with the musical instrument tradition from Allison and Jim’s Griffith Park engagement session, Graham brought his banjo.  Love it.

We started goofing off and had Graham put on a pair of sunglasses and have a leafy weed coming out of his mouth.

Later, we pulled Kendall aside for a few bridal portraits.  Kendall, you are absolutely breathtaking.

Graham was a natural with the bouquet too!

And finally, some of my favorites, from later in the evening.

Pure sweetness.

Check back next week for a few photos from their beautiful Lake Tahoe wedding reception!

Thanks, Kendall and Graham, for being such an awesome couple!  You were so much fun to photograph!

Glendale & Burbank Day After/Newlywed Session Photographer | Kendall & Graham Wedding Portraits Sneak Peek

I’m really excited to share this sneak peek of Kendall and Graham’s beautiful wedding portrait session.  It technically happened the day of, but for simplicity I’m categorizing it as a day after/newlywed session.  Come back next week for the full post of their wedding portraits!

P.S. Isn’t it appropriate that Graham’s sneaking a peek himself?

Griffith Park Engagement Session: Allison and Jim | Los Angeles Engagement Session

Jim was my next door neighbor in my freshman dorm, and he also played clarinet in the Stanford Symphony Orchestra with Evan.  We met Allison after we moved to Pasadena, and she too is a Stanford alum.  They are such a sweet couple, so happy together.  They have diverse career interests, with Allison pursuing a Ph.D. in comparative literature and Jim pursuing one in chemical engineering, but they’re extremely well-matched.

Their proposal story is equally sweet.  Jim surprised Allison over winter break by greeting her when she got off the plane in her hometown of Boise, Idaho, and taking her in a limo to a park in downtown Boise.  Her beautiful ring is made of diamonds from his grandmother’s ring.  So romantic!

We had tons of fun touring Griffith Park in Los Angeles for this engagement session, and the hours just flew by.

We asked Jim and Allison to bring a prop for the session, and they found the perfect one.  Jim’s saxophone looks awesome!  It’s easy to hear jazz when you look at these photos.

Favorite!  I loved the light in this part of the park.  Allison, you are gorgeous!

Marci - BEAUTIFUL and so creative!!! I love the back to back, silhouette photos, the ring circling around Allison’s face, and especially the last one…all so good! You have a wonderful gift to share. :>)June 8, 2010 – 2:49 pm

Allison - Truc, we had a blast with taking pictures with you! Every minute of our session was fun, and we love the results. You got an awesome variety of shots, and they captured the moments brilliantly! For our save-the-date cards, we’re going to use the eighth photo from the top on this post–the one where we’re walking and holding hands. That expanse of sky at the top left is the perfect place to put some text with our names and the date. I’m so impressed with your artistry and professionalism!June 6, 2010 – 12:28 pm

Cathy - I love love love that last shot! Gorgeous!June 4, 2010 – 3:01 pm

Evan - Jim and Allison, you look gorgeous! Allison, you got your paws on one cool cat. You two look like you could hold your own in a smoky basement bar at 2 am: Jim with some cool blues on the sax and Allison with some sultry vocals. Here’s hoping for many jazzy years together.June 1, 2010 – 11:06 pm
